James Groh

Digital Multimedia Journalist

James Groh joined TMJ4 News as a multimedia journalist in May 2019.

He was named the Wisconsin Broadcaster Association's (WBA) Young Professional of the Year in 2022. James has won four WBA awards for his My Block series. He was also a member of the team that won two regional Edward R. Murrow awards for the best digital platform in 2022 and 2023. James was part of the team that won a WBA award for the best digital/social operation of the year in 2022.

Before coming to Milwaukee, he worked as a general assignment reporter in Buffalo. Now, James focuses on telling positive, impactful, different, fun, weird, and engaging stories that you won't find in a typical newscast.

James is from the San Francisco Bay Area. He went to Chico State before transferring to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He graduated with a degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.

James is an avid “board sports” fan. He likes to paddle, wake, skate, and snowboard. You'll also find him at the Uihlein Soccer Park once a week. He also taught himself guitar and piano. In fact, he has released multiple albums.
